Atlas Azawan: Art and Culture for Everyone

A non-profit national association working to integrate the cultural and artistic industry into economic and social development through its artistic and cultural activities, such as events, festivals, training workshops, and more.

Founded :

The Atlas Azawan Association was created on August 14, 2009, in Agadir, in accordance with the requirements of Dahir No. 1-58-376 of November 15, 1958, regarding the creation of associations, as amended and supplemented by Law No. 75.00 of July 23, 2002.

The Founders :

Started by a group of passionate people interested in art and culture, the goal is to promote and make Amazigh musical art popular.

Its objectives :
  • Contribute to preserving Morocco’s artistic heritage by supporting artistic and cultural development and organizing festivals and cultural events at local, regional, national, and international levels.
  • Create musical and artistic works and promote them both inside and outside the country.
  • Conduct scientific research in the field of “musicology” and the heritage of the Rawais to document and codify it properly. Work on preserving it through sound and image in a modern, scientific way.
  • Build and strengthen cooperation between local, national, and international artists.
  • Establish partnerships with other national or international organizations to support the cultural industry.
Daily Administrative Activities :

Since its creation, the association operated in the hall of the Youth Center in the Hassani neighborhood of Agadir until 2015, when it rented its own space at 129 Oujda Avenue in the industrial area of Agadir. On June 1, 2022, the association moved its headquarters to Temitar Building, 4th floor, 401 Hassan II Street, Agadir. It also has an administrative annex and a team of trainers and specialists in cultural industries, including members of the Forum Musique Sans Visa team from Rabat.

The association has also organized workshops to train young people in management and administration for organizing events and festivals, as well as preparing administrative documents for cultural events. In this context, Atlas Azawan has mentored several interns in areas like business management, administrative and financial management, communication, and more.
